Three cities dominate Indonesian medical-aesthetic outbound travel: Seoul, Bangkok, and Istanbul. Each has genuine strengths and genuine trade-offs. The honest comparison is not 'which is best' — it is 'which is best for what.'
Technique strength
- Seoul: rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery, regenerative protocols, exosome therapy, deep-plane lifting in senior hands.
- Bangkok: gender-affirming surgery, dental aesthetic, gluteal augmentation, cost-led general procedures.
- Istanbul: hair transplantation (FUE/DHI at scale), high-volume rhinoplasty, dental.

Cost reads in Istanbul's favour. The honest read: cost ranges reflect real differences in surgeon experience, anaesthesia standard, and post-op care. The same procedure does not buy the same outcome across these markets.
Aftercare from Indonesia
Seoul has structured Indonesian aftercare networks (ours included). Bangkok has informal practitioner networks. Istanbul has effectively none — patients fly back for issues. This is the most important and least-discussed difference.
Recovery comfort
Seoul recovery hotels and serviced residences in Gangnam are purpose-built for medical recovery. Bangkok offers excellent hospital hospitality but weaker concierge integration. Istanbul recovery is typically clinic-arranged and varies enormously.
When we recommend each
- Seoul: regenerative protocols, complex facial surgery, anything where long-term aftercare matters most.
- Bangkok: gender-affirming care, established cost-conscious patients with strong existing local follow-up.
- Istanbul: high-volume hair restoration where the Turkish FUE technicians genuinely lead.
We will tell a patient to fly to Istanbul for hair if that is the right answer. Honesty is part of curation.
